About

Me well, my name is Lisa Filpi and this blog is all about my recipes, food product information and nutrition information.  I am a NESTA certified Fitness Nutrition coach and am a self proclaimed cook and foodie.

My fascination with food and nutrition began years ago growing up in the house of two individuals who loved food, drink and all things related.  I remember endless nights of wine tastings, dinner parties and the like.  This being the case, I couldn’t help but be exposed.  My Mom was and still is an excellent cook today and my Father is a dedicated Italian which, I image, is enough said!

My earlier years were dedicated to fine dining and excellent home cooked meals but as I grew, I ventured in to a real love of natural ingredients, vegetarianism and all things organic.  I suppose it has something to do with my generation and our exposure.  So I branched out from what I knew and started really exploring foods and philosophies I believed and still believe in.

This phase took me to Thailand where I became a Professional Thai cook, learning from one of the best on Koh Samui and to Canada where I learned some Heavenly Vegetarian Indian cooking.  I began to study and believe in the benefits of food pairings other cultures believe so adamantly in.  Ying and Yang developed precisely from this…the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, pungent and savory to be most beneficial for the mind, body and soul.

Today I’ve come full circle and believe I can offer some sound perspective on food, recipes, products and nutrition information.  I like simplicity and aspire to create recipes which encompass all I have learned yet be simple enough to create on a daily basis.  I can appreciate all types of food but do admit I am partial to vegetarian, organic all natural foods.
